Planning director Don Schwartz reported on last week’s update from the Bedford County commissioners that equipment placed on 21 existing towers will add broadband service to an additional 3,900 customers. Schwartz said the creation of the nonprofit Alleghenies Broadband Inc. was instrumental for this and future projects because it creates “a very good spot to access money, because there is a mechanism.” The goal is for 95% of the county to have broadband access by the end of 2023.
